Tyrone Taylor– ‘Birds Of A Feather’ / ‘Version’ – Micron (JA)



Haunting, very rare roots tune from a singer who would later become known for the big hit ‘Cottage In Negril’ as well as an excellent cover of Bobby Bland’s ‘Members Only’. Taylor would return to this tune at least twice in his career; it came out both on Wolf (a Jack Ruby production) in the seventies, and on Diamond C (a self-production) in the eighties. This is an earlier and much bluesier version, however (matrix numbers: FMM 7452-A and FMM 7452-B, respectively). So rare and collectable, in fact, that although it isn’t a top notch copy, I’ve decided to list it anyway. Exquisite dub version, too; don’t miss it!
